While softness prevailed in prices, trading in framing lumber picked up modestly amid drier and warmer weather in some markets. Increased demand was mostly reported among distributors, wholesalers, and other buyers, while orders were slower to reach back to the mills. Even so, producers picked up on the modestly brighter tone, and some fielded enough orders to take a firmer stance in late trading. Structural panel prices faded as conservative purchasing lagged mill offerings. OSB prices cracked in most producing zones across North America, as a number of mills accepted counters to alleviate buildups and push order files out one to two weeks. Southern Pine plywood trading was inconsistent, but buyers covering immediate needs supported an overall steady week of sales. Western Fir plywood trading remained subdued, leaving mills struggling with thin order files and excess production. Dull Canadian plywood sales left prices flat.
