Elliot Lake Fire Chief John Thomas announced Monday that due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to maintain physical distancing requirements, there is a fire ban in effect immediately in the City of Elliot Lake.
The fire restriction means that no burning or open flame is allowed. This means:
• No burning permits will be issued.
• No campfires.
• No burning in outdoor fireplaces.
• No burning in outdoor fire pits.
• No incinerator burning.
• No brush or slash burning.
Any person setting an open-air fire shall be responsible and liable for costs and could be liable to a fine of $500.
