The purpose of the Forest Technology CAP is to financially support projects which demonstrate first-in-kind innovative technology, equipment or data techniques that can address the specified challenges and opportunities identified in Nextfor’s Forest Innovation Forums and ongoing case studies; with an objective of investing in forest innovation in Ontario.
The funding is a private/public joint innovation fund, requiring a matching contribution from the project proponent. The funding is split into two streams, totaling $500,000 contribution over two years by the Centre for Research and Innovation in the Bio-economy (CRIBE).
- Small Commercial Acceleration Project (CAP) stream will be up to $50,000 CRIBE contribution (minimum $100,000 project value).
- Medium Commercial Acceleration Project (CAP) will be projects which require greater than $50,000 up to $100,000 CRIBE Contribution, projects of greater value may be considered at the discretion of CRIBE.
Process
A first-round of Small CAP proposals are invited in an open call to December 31, 2021; or until program funding has been fully committed for this round. Medium CAP projects are an open call until funding has been exhausted. Proposals should be completed using the provided application form. Proposals must be submitted to rfp@cribe.ca.
Registration
Any party who meets the eligibility requirements can apply, however, any application for Nextfor funding requires all prospective project proponents to register with Nextfor in order to receive funding application information. Registration is free and can be done through the Nextfor website at www.nextfor.ca/register.
