PRINCE GEORGE — Canfor and the United Way of Northern BC are celebrating another successful fundraising campaign for the Polar Cup. For the second straight year, Canfor’s Administration Centre in Prince George topped all other locations in its annual Polar Cup fundraiser event. Over $37,000 was raised at the CAC, while a couple hundred thousand dollars was raised across all operations in BC and Alberta. All this, despite the recent downturn in forestry.

All money raised goes towards United Way’s Maximum Impact Fund. That pot goes into gaps in the community using local agencies. The money ends up coming full circle with mill closures in some northern communities. While some locations could not support the Polar Cup like in years past, other locations have stepped up in recognition of that and in turn, are supporting the workers impacted by the struggles.

Canfor and its employees have raised nearly $1.5 million over the last five years at their Canadian operations.
