We regret to announce that Biomass North Development Centre has ceased operations.

It has been a challenging and rewarding five years, and we are proud of the role we have played in the emerging bioeconomy. We’ve brokered meaningful partnerships through B2B activities and regional events. We’ve built resilient networks of cross-sectoral partners, spanning First Nations, municipalities, industry, and academia. We’ve educated policymakers and the general public about the vast opportunities in the sector through our public outreach, workshops, and seminars. We’ve built strong international partnerships through our inbound and outbound trade missions and annual conferences. We’ve worked to break-down policy and regulatory barriers through advocacy and sharing of international best practices.

And we’ve consistently preached the crucial role the bioeconomy should play in transitioning to a sustainable, low carbon future.

Even though we are closing our doors, we remain passionate about the opportunities a sustainable bioeconomy can yield for Canadians, and we strongly believe that the sector still requires critical foundation pieces to support its growth. We need to build new sustainable supply chains for emerging biomass opportunities. We need provincial governments to commit to bioheat and biopower. We need increased investment in innovation for advanced bioproduct development. We need modernized policy frameworks in provinces that have fallen behind.

We have confidence that the strong organizations that continue to develop the sector will meet these needs.

Before we go, we would like to thank the incredible partners and allies we have worked with throughout this journey. We deeply value the relationships we have formed. Please stay in touch – see below for contact information.

We wish you the best of luck in 2020!
