While northern Saskatchewan forest fires rage, SaskPower is struggling to keep up with the damage being done to its infrastructure.

Last week, employees worked to restore 42 poles on the line to Pinehouse, Sask., that had been burned by fast-moving fires.

The power company said Monday it was cutting the power in the Stanley Mission, Grandmother’s Bay, Missinippi, Sucker River and English Bay from 9:30 a.m. CST until noon so it can repair poles in those areas.

Another power outage was scheduled for the area around Cando Monday morning, including the Mosquito and Red Pheasant First Nations as crews repaired damaged lines there as well.

There are about 120 forest fires burning in Saskatchewan and some 13,000 people have been forced from their homes.
