This weekend, Ryerson’s Department of Architectural Science, in partnership with Moses Structural Engineers, will host TimberFever – an intense design and construction competition. Based on a reality television model, students will have just 36 hours to build a wooden structure – from the time they receive their mission until completion.
The challenge, designed to promote learning in design with wood, will include eight teams of six students each. Every team includes both Architectural Science and Civil Engineering students from second to fourth year and will be mentored by practicing architects and engineers.
Final designs will be judged by a panel of judges:
- Vincent Goetz, Diamond Schmitt Architects
- David Moses, Moses Structural Engineers
- Steven Street, Ontario WOOD WORKS!
- Marco VanderMaas, Quadrangle Architects Limited
The general public is invited to watch the final build take place on Ryerson’s Gould Street on Sunday afternoon, beginning at 1 p.m. Media are invited to Sunday’s build, please contact Johanna, details below.
