POWELL RIVER, B.C. — Kootenay-based Selkirk Mountain Forest has purchased 6,327 acres of private forest land for $19.4 million on Texada Island, near B.C.’s Sunshine Coast.

According to a story in the Powell River Peak, Texada Island Forest Reserve owned the land near Gillies Bay for several decades and hired Monticola Forestry to manage and implement a long-term, forest-management plan for the property, said Monticola co-owner Maureen Muenter.

“We can say that the management of the property will continue in the fashion it has in the past,” said Muenter. “I don’t think anyone will notice any difference.”
