As part of the Canadian Forest Service (CFS), the Canadian Wood Fibre Centre (CWFC) has employees located across the country. Our goal is to develop and deploy targeted, effective and environmentally responsible solutions to challenges faced by Canada’s forest sector.
Part of our mandate is to work closely with FPInnovations and other stakeholders in the development and uptake of end-user–relevant wood fibre research.
Working with partners, the CWFC ensures the provision of real-world and collaborative scientific solutions to improve the sustainability and competitiveness of Canada’s forest sector, as well as provide evidence-based science for the development of effective policies.
The Forest Innovation Program (FIP), established to advance research, development and technology transfer activities in Canada’s forest sector, directly supports the CWFC’s work by helping the forest sector with its ongoing transformation through the adoption of emerging technologies ready for commercialization.
The CWFC also manages the Petawawa Research Forest, which is available to scientists and collaborators from across federal, provincial and territorial departments, academia and industry as a trial/demonstration site.
